Canaveral National Seashore Turtle Watch Tours
Canaveral National Seashore is located midway along Florida's east coast where warm waters and a temperate climate meet to host species as diverse as bald eagles, alligators, bromeliads, mangroves and sea turtles. The National Seashore was designated in 1975 to preserve and protect this special area. Visitors to the Seashore will discover its rich and diverse history, from its fertile estuaries once supporting Timucuan Indian populations to the area's first orange groves in the 1830s. Today, Canaveral National Seashore offers an inviting place to relax along the shores of the Atlantic, fish in an open lagoon, enjoy a self-guided hike, watch for wildlife like the West Indian manatee or even participate in a guided Sea Turtle Tours.
Guided Turtle Watch Tours are offered in June and July. Participants meet their guide at a Visitor Center and caravan by private vehicle to a parking lot near the beach. The group may walk up to 1/2 mile in soft sand to reach the location where the turtle will be observed laying her nest and returning to the ocean. The evening concludes by helping to protect her nest by putting a screen across the egg chamber and marking the nest for research purposes. The group will choose and name the turtle.

Need to Know
- Turtle Watch
Each Turtle Watch Tour allows 30 participants per tour. Tours will be offered on Friday and Saturday beginning June 1, 2024 and ending July 27, 2024.
- Reminder
The Turtle Watch Tour starts at 8:00 pm and ends at midnight. Participants must arrive by 7:45 pm. Valid for entry only on the day of the Turtle Watch Tour date reserved.
- Reservation Information
Participants must be at least 8 years old.
- Conditions
Participants must be able to walk ½ mile in soft sand at night. Participants should dress in light weight long-sleeved and long-legged clothing and bring bug spray and water for drinking.
Participants must arrive in a personal vehicle and will caravan to the turtle watch location together. All participants will depart together and must remain with the group until the end of the viewing session. Taxis are not allowed.

Turtle Watch Tours will be offered on Friday and Saturday June 1, 2024 - July 27, 2024.
Changes and Cancellations
Cancellations must be made 72 hours in advance of the tour for refunds, minus $1.00 processing fee. There is no refund for No Shows or cancellation less 72 hours in advance.
